IntelliGenetics is a privately owned and operated DNA testing laboratory providing DNA based paternity and parentage analysis, family relationship confirmation testing, infidelity testing for the detection of semen, sperm and DNA and forensic casework analysis.  Our facility is located at 24 New Orleans Road on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, USA.

 

 

DNA testing at IntelliGenetics is performed using the PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) to analyze multiple Short Tandem Repeat (STR) DNA loci using fluorescent laser technology that is compatible with most state police crime laboratories and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) DNA testing laboratory. 

 

 

DNA testing conducted at the laboratory of IntelliGenetics is in compliance with or exceeds the standards and guidelines of the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) for parentage testing and family studies and the most recent FBI approved Quality Assurance Standards for Forensic DNA Testing Laboratories for infidelity and forensic related tests.

 

 

The director, Dr. Daniel B. Demers, has nearly 20 years of paternity and forensic testing and broad testimony experience.  He is a member of the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), American College of Forensic Examiners and carries a Certificate of Qualification in DNA Identity and Forensic Testing from the New York State Department of Health. He has managed numerous contracts with state child support agencies for paternity testing, state police crime laboratories for forensic suspect and no-suspect casework and criminal offender databasing (COmbined DNA Index System, CODIS), and grants and contracts for forensic and CODIS testing with the National Institute of Justice (NIJ).
